Full-Charge Bookkeeper

Part-Time Hybrid Remote in Sammamish, WA

Part-time Full-Charge Bookkeeper: $23-26 DOE
FLSA Status: Non-exempt/Hourly
Schedule: Year-round, part-time flexible (approximately 20 hours per week)
Start Date: Until filled (posted mid-September)

Be a part of a unique educational service that supports part-time students from 6th-12th grade in tutoring and accredited courses. We have established accounting processes but need your expertise to help us maintain them or consider upgrades or changes in the future. The Academy bookkeeper is an integral part of the Academy team and directly impacts both the systems and customer service we provide Academy families.

Ideal Candidates:

  • The ability to research and communicate to ensure accuracy. No two student programs are alike, and so our unique invoicing process requires monthly research, collaboration, and updates.
  • QuickBooks and/or QuickBooks Online experience, with a focus on full charge accounting duties.
  • Understanding of payroll processing and tax calculations or an eager willingness to be trained on them.
  • Confident with Office 365 products (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Detailed-oriented with a deep commitment to accuracy in financial record-keeping.
  • Effective communication skills: kind, friendly customer service skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Open to a flexible schedule, working approximately 20 hours per week, depending on the current workload (which may at times be 15 hours per week, but during the rush of fall registration may exceed 30+ hours per week) .
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify trends and recommend improvements.
  • Ability and comfort with computers, communicating remotely, Zoom, etc…

What You Will Do at the Academy:

  • Accurately invoice each individual family, which may include a number of students with unique programs that require special attention, and follow up with changes as necessary
  • Manage accounts payable, pay bills, issue checks
  • Manage accounts receivable
  • Process payroll, payroll taxes, quarterly taxes (we will train you on this if you haven’t done it before)
  • Communicate positively with clients
  • Reconcile statements, maintain oversight of expenditures
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements such as balance sheets, income statements, profit margins 
  • Meet with the Academy’s owner to review financials on a regular basis, offering guidance as needed
  • Make occasional bank deposits
  • Year-end closing processes (tax preparation experience preferred, including W2s and 1099s)
  • Collaborate with internal teams to streamline processes and improve efficiency
  • Stay updated on accounting regulations and best practices
  • Other accounting duties

Pay and Benefits:

  • Starting pay rate is $23-$26 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.
  • As an employee, you will have:

Physical Requirements:

The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear. The employee frequently is required to walk and use fingers, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and depth perception. Occasionally the employee will lift up to 25 lbs. such as to lift files and paper.

About the Academy

Pacific Learning Academy is a one-on-one school offering single accredited courses, dual enrollment, and full-time middle and high school. Pacific Learning Academy is Washington State Approved via the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) and an Accredited private School via Cognia/AdvancED. High School coursework is approved by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). We also offer academic support (tutoring and enrichment) in all subjects from 6th to 12th grade. Instruction is held in-person in student homes, the Pacific Learning Academy school office in Sammamish, at local libraries across the Eastside (Issaquah, Sammamish, etc.) or via remote classes online.
